Welcome to Third Annual High Plains Texas Longhorn Sale!

2014 High Plains Texas Longhorn Sale
Deadline for consignments of registered cattle is March 8, 2014.
(the deadline has been extended to March 15)
Sale date is May 3, 2014.

Consign your cattle now to the High Plains Texas Longhorn Sale, an event designed to attract buyers interested in purchasing good-quality cattle and to benefit sellers with an attractive venue and services at minimal expense.  The sale will be held at Centennial Livestock Auction, Fort Collins, Colorado, conveniently located at Interstate 25 and Highway 14, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014.
The sale is open to non-registered Longhorn cattle and ropers.  Only registered cattle will be listed in the catalog.  All female Longhorns must be blood tested for Brucellosis.  Any cattle which originated in Mexico must be TB tested.  These cattle will not be listed in the catalog.  Non-catalog consignments will be accepted up to sale day.  Sale commission is 8 percent.

Consignment fee for Registered Longhorns is $120 per animal (includes a yardage fee of $25 which will cover straw bedding and hay at Centennial for up to four days).  There will be a limit of 80 lots to be featured in the sale catalog.    Sale commission is 8 percent.  For participating buyers the sale commission will be reduced to 5 percent.

Here’s what you need to do now to consign:
1.       Fill out and sign the attached consignment form. The DEADLINE FOR CONSIGNMENTS is MARCH 8 (the deadline has been extended to March 15).  Additional forms are available on-line at HighPlainsLonghornSale.com or by e-mailing us at HighPlainsSale@gmail.com.

2.       Include with the consignment form the original ITLA and/or TLBAA registration certificate, plus a completed ITLA or TLBAA transfer application.

3.       Include a good digital color photo of each animal for the sale catalog.  Catalogs will be available by April 15.

4.       Include a consignment fee of $120 per lot made payable to High Plains Texas Longhorn Sale.

Cattle will be received at Centennial  Livestock on Thursday, May 1, between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., and on Friday, May 2, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.  No registered cattle will be received on sale day.  High Plains Texas Longhorn Sale reserves the right to refuse any cattle on sale day that are found to be unsound or defective.  Any lot not accepted will have the consignment fee returned.  Cattle must vacate sale pens by Sunday, May 4, unless other arrangements are made for yardage directly with Centennial Livestock.

Health Requirements:  Upon entering Centennial Livestock Auction premises, each animal must have a properly completed health certificate.  Each consignor is responsible for delivering all health documents to the Sale Management.  All cattle must be TB and brucellosis tested within 30 days of sale date.  Bulls must have been tested for trichomoniasis.  Pregnancy status of cows with no calf at side should be noted on health papers, otherwise such cows will sell as open.  Out-of-state bidders should review requirements for bringing cattle into their states before purchasing.

Representations:  Announcements from the auction block shall take precedence over any information in the sale catalog or any other sale data.  Pedigrees, horn measurements and any other representations included therein have been furnished by and are strictly the responsibility of the consignor.  Buyer should verify all pertinent information before bidding.

Bidding:  Each lot will be sold to the highest bidder, with reserve.  The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids or claims, and his decision on such matters will be final.  All sales are final when announced by the auctioneer as sold unless the consignment is “posted out” immediately by the consignor.  Settlement must be made in cash, check or certified funds at the close of the sale.  Credit cards will be accepted for an additional 4 percent fee.

Risk of Possession:  Until an animal is sold it remains the sole risk and responsibility of the seller.  After a consignment is pronounced sold by the auctioneer, it becomes the sole risk and responsibility of its buyer.  Buyers may claim their animals at the conclusion of the sale and only after payment is received in full.

Waiver of Liability:  Livestock sale venues are inherently dangerous and all persons who enter upon the Centennial Livestock Auctions premises do so at their own risk.  The CLA, the High Plains Texas Longhorn Sales staff, its agents and employees assume no liability or risk of loss, whether expressed or implied, legal or otherwise, for any accidents or injuries which may occur.  The above terms and conditions contained herein constitute a contract among all participants and spectators entering upon the sale premises.

Consignors must agree to comply with all of the above sale terms, rules and regulations by signing and returning the consignment form to:
